Sometimes we are in a rut and we just don’t know how to dress confidently. To combat this confidence issue, I have compiled a few tips as to how we can confidently step out in style without feeling uneasy about our apparel choices.
Wear What Makes You Comfortable
Some outfits can make us feel very physically or emotionally uncomfortable. An example of emotional discomfort would liken to if you don’t like exposing a lot of skin, yet you find yourself in a crop top and ultra-mini shorts. This is bound to make you want to run and hide behind some bushes so no passerby can see you in your “naked” state. You would probably feel like every pair of eyes are wandering to places you wish they would never go….(talking from personal experience ?…). You may look absolutely fabulous but you just don’t feel very comfortable in that particular outfit. On the more physical side of things, discomfort can also occur if your outfit is too tight, too loose or just plain unflattering. Your confidence will take a major hit if you don’t sort these things out in the early (before leaving the house perhaps). If it makes you uncomfortable in any way, ditch it.
Know Which Colors Make You Feel Good
Colors can have a drastic effect on your mood. If black makes you feel like a badarse, then congrats! Add more black to your closet because it’s a color that amps up your confidence! On the other hand, If black makes you feel like you are going through a period without chocolate (a time of great mourning) then you can guess that it will not make a very positive contribution to your confidence. In my case, I love bright, bold, vibrant colors since they make me feel super happy and I feel like it was just meant to be. However, I wasn’t always a bright color fanatic. I used to have a completely black wardrobe and at that point of my life, black was the ish! Everything was black and I was on cloud nine. So depending on which color makes you feel the best, I can guarantee that it will give a major boost to your confidence!
Dress According To Your Body Shape
Now this could be a whole blog post on its own (makes a mental note). Your body shape is unique to you and how you dress it can make you feel like an exotic queen or an old chewed up rag doll. Each body type is beautiful and handles clothing differently. Emphasize your best features to enhance your confidence. Work with what you have been given and please don’t feel the need to hide your assets. For example, if you an hourglass shape, then highlight your waistline by wearing crop tops, pencil skirts or wrap dresses. There are tons of guides online that can help you out if you don’t have a clue about how to dress your body type. When you come to an understanding of what looks best with your shape, your confidence will increase!
Dress For The Occasion
According to the event, what you wear can affect your confidence. Take this short scenario for example; you are going out for groceries in an old t-shirt and some slacks but somehow turned up front and center at a major red carpet event ?. I can easily imagine how your confidence may take a serious dip. People will be looking at you and wondering who dragged you in there looking like that (people are so mean). None-the-less this is a more extreme example. (If you have ever had this happen to you, let me know in the comments!) The point I want to get across is this: if you know where you are going, dress to suit the occasion.
The best advice that I can give you in order to dress confidently is this: Smile! ? A smile is the best accessory you can ever have! Be positive! No one in the world has your smile and it can boost your confidence and make people around you feel good at the same time! This one tip can completely override the other points I previously mentioned! Even if you are wearing an uncomfortable, frumpy outfit in a color you don’t like, your smile can make you feel like a gazillion dollars! That genuine joy and positivity will give you that confidence that you crave!
